President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto will be in Mombasa and Kwale counties Saturday where they are expected to tour some of the projects initiated by the Jubilee administration.

In the morning, the President will commission the second container terminal at the Mombasa port, marking a milestone in port infrastructural development projects started over five years ago.

The terminal, constructed with funding from the Japanese government, has already started operations.

This is the largest single project the government has undertaken at the port, with the other projects being the Sh10 billion twin projects of construction of berth 19 and dredging of the harbour to accommodate large vessels.

With the terminal in operation, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) now has a capacity of over 1.2 million containers.
