A Jubilee MP has sensationally claimed that Opposition leader Raila Odinga betrayed his supporters by meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.

Speaking at the Pumwani Sports Grounds during this year’s Nairobi County Madaraka Day celebrations, Starehe MP Maina Kamanda said it was wrong for Mr Odinga to go to State House yet his supporters are languishing in poverty.

Mr Kamanda added that the Opposition would not succeed in using the "backdoor" means to ascend to power.

"We only have one President in Kenya. Those trying to use backdoor or think of “nusu mkate” should forget it. We need to live in peace and respect for one another,” said Mr Kamanda.

He also condemned the violence witnessed during the weekly Cord demonstrations pushing for the ejection of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission officials from office.

"Before you carry those stones, ask yourself if the person telling you to do that has their children accompanying him. Did he even call you when he went to have a cup of tea with the President?” posed Mr Kamanda.

He said Mr Odinga was only afraid of losing the next elections, saying that is why he is "advocating for instability in the country".

Mr Kamanda also warned politicians seeking to run on the Jubilee ticket that they would not be cleared if they engage in violent acts.
