An Opposition MP has faulted the Jubilee coalition for proposing that the IEBC gets involved political parties nominations.

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, speaking during the second anniversary of Westlands' women table banking at the Kenya Technical Training College, said party nomination was a private affair by individual parties and should not be dictated by government.

“Nomination of a candidate to represent a party is up to the individual parties to decide whether they want it to be presided and managed by the IEBC, there is no law on that,” said Mr Wanyonyi.

He said as Cord, they will decide on who will preside the election and if they find it suitable for IEBC to run it they will request them.

Weighing on the reforms at the IEBC, Mr Wanyonyi said dialogue was overdue and that the Opposition is pleased with the progress so far.

He said that a new electoral body that is not biased is what the country needs and that the Opposition will accept the results regardless of the election outcome.
