The Supreme Court has nullified the election of Embakasi South MP Julius Mawathe.

In a ruling delivered Friday, the court said that the results declared after the August 8, 2017 elections were unsupported by any evidence.

The court held that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission was unable to show the contents of the original form 35A which cast doubt on the accuracy of Mr Mawathe's declaration as winner.

Former MP Irshad Sumra Mohammed had successfully challenged Mr Mawathe's win at the Court of Appeal after High Court Judge Grace Nzioka dismissed his initial petition.

Mr Mawathe then appealed at the Supreme Court.
