MP’s bodyguard shoots dead 3 suspected gangsters in Umoja

The bodyguard of Manyatta MP John Muchiri shot dead three suspected gangsters and found a pistol on Sunday night in Umoja Estate, Nairobi.

Administration Police Constable Moses Mugo was on his way home with a friend, Ms Caroline Mwende, when they were confronted by a gang of four men on a motorcycle at around 11pm.

The gang ordered them to surrender their mobile phones and cash. They robbed Ms Mwende of her phone and Sh5,000.

The officer drew his pistol and shot at them, killing three as one escaped, leaving the motorcycle behind.

During the incident, Ms Mwende was injured in the left hand and was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for treatment.

Police officers rushed to the scene after the shooting and seized a pistol with one round of ammunition, eight mobile phones, a bag and Sh3,950.

The motorcycle the gang was using, registration number KMDG 755V, was taken to the Buruburu Police Station.

The three bodies were taken to the City Mortuary.

In another incident, police are looking for a gang of two men and a woman who on Saturday night robbed a motorist of his car near the Donholm roundabout.

The armed gang, believed to be behind robberies targeting taxi drivers and car hire firms, is said to be using the woman to lure their victims.
