County reps fight bribery accusations

The Transport executive came under fire on Thursday for accusing assembly members of being bribed to lobby against introduction of new buses.

County representatives directed the transport committee to demand an explanation from Mr Evans Ondieki. However, the committee’s chairperson, South C ward representative Diana Kapeen, said Mr Ondieki had failed to turn up.

“Mr Ondieki does not attend our meetings. I ask the speaker to direct that he appears before the committee,” she said.

“What the chair of the committee said is sad, but we have to give the executive for transport a chance to respond,” said Speaker Alex ole Magelo.

The county plans to introduce 200 buses with a capacity of 62 passengers.
