Police on Tuesday evening retrieved a Ceska pistol from a manhole in Dagoretti, Nairobi County.

The firearm is suspected to have been dumped into the hole several weeks ago.

Dagoretti OCPD Rashid Mohammed said the weapon was discovered at around 3pm by people repairing the manhole in Muthangari.

Mr Mohammed said the pistol would be examined by ballistic experts and tests would help establish who owned it He said initial investigations show that the pistol does not belong to the police.

The discovery comes a few months after another pistol loaded with 11 bullets was found at a car wash in Riruta Satellite Estate, Dagoretti.
