Police imposter Joshua Waiganjo will be charged alongside his former bosses, who are accused of recruiting him.

Anti- corruption chief magistrate Doreen Mulekyo issued a production order requiring Waiganjo to appear in court next Monday to join former Rift Valley police boss John M’Mbijiwe and his anti stock theft unit counterpart Remy Ngugi for a merger of a criminal case facing them in Nairobi.

Mr M’mbijiwe and Mr Ngugi were before the court yesterday for a mention of the case but Mr Waiganjo was absent.

The former police bosses have been charged with various counts of abuse of office in relation to Waiganjo’s operations within the police force.

A Naivasha court recently jailed the imposter for two years after he was found guilty of impersonation and illegal possession of police uniforms.

He also has other pending criminal cases in Nyeri, Nakuru and Nairobi.

The administrators are accused of allowing the imposter unwarranted access and use of police vehicles including an aircraft besides allocating him an armed personal driver.

Mr M’Mbijiwe has denied allowing the imposter to ride in a police chopper on a sensitive trip to Baragoi when bandits massacred over 40 police officers in the Suguta Valley.

FALSE REPRESENTATION

“ Produce the third accused when the case will be mentioned on September 23,” ruled the magistrate.

The prosecution says Mr M’Mbijiwe ordered a “personal” file opened in Mr Waiganjo’s name to pass him off as a police reservist.

He also allegedly ordered two vehicles impounded at a police station released to Mr Waiganjo “with the full knowledge that he was not the rightful owner.”

Mr Ngugi is accused of allowing Mr Waiganjo use of police vehicles and assigning him a police driver identified as Corporal Joel Mopel.
They are out on bonds of Sh1 million each .

Mr Waiganjo is accused of falsely presenting himself as a senior police officer and presiding over a graduation ceremony by inspecting a guard of honour mounted by forest guards on September 14, 2012, at the Kenya Forestry College in Londiani.

A further charge stated that he arrested four employees of Njoro Rhino Safari Hotel and Farmers Inn Hotel while assuming the duties of a gazetted officer.

Mr Waiganjo was arrested on January 4 after the Baragoi trip in which he accompanied top officers to investigate the killing of police officers in a raid.
