A gang broke into five shops at Garissa Lodge Shopping Centre in Eastleigh early Monday and stole goods of undetermined value.

The gang made away with money from tills and jewellery in the late night incident.

Ward Rep Asman Adow said robberies had gone up in the recent past.

He said armed men robbed a shop on Sunday and shot their way out of the busy Eastleigh streets.

“They killed a person and injured several others. Nobody could dare stop them,” Mr Adow said.

Monday’s robbery happened next to the building that had been attacked earlier in the day.

Police suspect the robbery was an inside job although investigations to ascertain events of the Sunday night robbery are ongoing.

The criminals accessed the premises and forced their way through a metal grill that separated the main entrance and the shops.

The watchman, however maintains that he did not hear the commotion as they accessed the shops.

Mr Adow stated that they suspect the crimes are related and criminal gang is setting base in the area.
