Woman stabs husband to death in domestic quarrel

A woman stabbed her husband to death in Mathare on Monday night following a domestic quarrel.

Police spokesperson Zipporah Mboroki said the deceased, Mr Ibrahim Mumela, died on the spot.

The injured have been identified as Kelvin Ochieng, 23, who was shot in the left thigh, and Leornard Otieno, 41, who was shot in the right leg.

The two injured residents were admitted to a Kiambu hospital.

Hospital Ward MCA George Ochieng Ochola reported to the police that the suspect, Ms Catherine Nafula Shilakala, had a fight with the husband before she picked up a knife and stabbed him on the left side of the chest.

She escaped from the scene but later returned, prompting the riot.

Police also say that an Administration Police officer was stabbed and seriously injured on Monday night following a botched matatu carjacking in Kayole.

Senior Sergeant Jeremiah Mumina and other passengers were attacked by five men armed with knives who had boarded a Kayole-bound vehicle posing as passengers.

They stabbed the officer on the right side of the chest, in his right hand and in his right-hand palm.

Other passengers overpowered the attackers, who then jumped out of the moving vehicle without stealing anything.
