Angry Nairobi residents lynch two suspected robbers

Two suspected robbers were beaten to death by angry residents at Nairobi’s Mukuru Kayaba slums on Monday night.

According to a resident who reported the matter to police, the two were part of a six-man gang that raided his kiosk at 10.30pm and robbed him of Sh3,000.

“He raised an alarm and residents who responded to the distress call pursued the suspects and cornered two of them,” according to a police report.

It added that a toy pistol was found on one of the dead men.

In a separate incident, a five-man gang armed with pistols raided Royal stalls at Gikomba market at 7.30pm on Monday.

The gangsters confronted traders at the stalls and stole Sh4,000 and a mobile phone from a trader.

Another trader, Bernard Gitau, also lost Sh4,000 and a mobile phone.

“Police rushed to the scene led by Shauri Moyo police station commander but no arrest or recovery was made,” the police report said.
