Police in Nakuru are looking for a politician suspected to be furnishing the residents with fake documents to use in registering as voters.

Langa Langa chief Njoroge Ng’ang’a on Saturday said investigations that will help arrest the culprit are ongoing.

Mr Ng'ang'a said the matter was brought to his attention by police who, when issuing identity cards, realised some of the applicants' details did not tally.

One of the nabbed is a teenager who had tried to pass off as 27 years old woman.

From the documents that this reporter was able to view, the girl in her ID application form indicated she was born in 1990 yet her school leaving certificate indicates she was born in 1997.

“The girl had even used documents of a person who was not her relative. Police are investigating the incidences and will soon bring the suspects to book,” he said.

The chief urged leaders to instruct locals to use factual information when enlisting as voters.
