Chaos after boda boda operator is killed in road crash

Boda boda operators plying their trade between Kaptembwa slums and Nakuru town on Monday morning set a matatu on fire after it hit their colleague killing him on the spot.

The rider is said to have been taking a client to Kaptembwa estate from Nakuru town.

The incident that occurred at Checkpoint area within Nakuru town seemed to be the epitome of the bitter rivalry between matatu and the boda boda operators.

Confirming the incident area Police boss Joshua Omukata said the boda boda operator died on the spot but a client he was carrying suffered fractures and is recuperating at War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru town.

“The Matatu collided head on with the motorcycle at a corner along the Checkpoint area. We have launched investigations to establish the cause of the accident,” said Mr Omukata.

Police have arrested the driver of the Matatu to assist in investigations.
