Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has denied claims that his daughter used fake degree documents to get a county executive job in Nakuru County.

This comes after the unfolding saga of fake degrees certificates allegedly used by some Members of Nakuru County Executive Committee to secure their positions took a new twist.

Wednesday, Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama demanded that Mr Ngunjiri’s daughter who is a chief officer also be probed.

Interestingly, it was Mr Ngunjiri and his Nakuru East counterpart David Gikaria who first blew the whistle on Monday when they claimed that two Executive Committee Members used fake documents to apply for their positions.

But in a quick rejoinder, Mr Arama who is the only ODM MP in the county, told Mr Ngunjiri to “shut up” saying his own daughter who is a chief officer should be the first to be probed because she was not the most qualified person for the position.

“If Mr Ngunjiri is bold enough and is clean on the matter as he wants to portray himself in public, he should walk the talk by tabling the documents his daughter used to apply for the job so that they can also be scrutinised by the detectives,” said Mr Arama.

“People living in glass houses should not throw stones at others. Mr Ngunjiri used his influence to make sure his daughter became a chief officer yet she was not even the most qualified and suitable candidate,” added Mr Arama.

DESERVED POSITION

But reacting angrily to the claims, Mr Ngunjiri said that his daughter Edith Wanjiku Kimani who is the Chief Officer for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism, was qualified and deserved the position.

“My daughter is qualified and has a master’s degree in hotel management from a university in Switzerland and has genuine documents to prove that,” said Mr Ngunjiri.

However, Mr Arama, the first time Cord MP maintained that the appointment of Mr Ngunjiri’s daughter was not on merit but was purely a case of nepotism.

“Mr Ngunjiri should swallow his pride because the truth of the matter is that his daughter secured the position because of his influence, period,” said Mr Arama.

Mr Arama lashed out at Mr Gikaria and Mr Ngujiri and accused them of overstepping their mandate by attacking Nakuru County Speaker Ms Susan Wakarura Kihika and planning to rock the Jubilee government from within.

“I urge my colleagues to stop meddling in the affairs of Nakuru County Assembly and let the MCAs do their work,” he added.
