Laikipia University students at Nakuru campus on Thursday morning staged a protest after their colleague was knocked down and killed by a vehicle.

The students barricaded the busy Nakuru-Nairobi highway at Mbaruk using twigs and stones disrupting traffic.

Police used teargas to disperse the rowdy students who paralysed transport on the highway for nearly 30 minutes.

RAN OVER

A first-year student was ran over by a public service vehicle outside the gate of the campus on Wednesday night.

The student died on arrival at St Mary’s Hospital.

The students complained that many of their colleagues have lost their lives in a similar manner and demanded authorities erect bumps outside their school.
