Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has finally broken his silence over incessant allegations of corruption in his administration.

“I have been working tirelessly to ensure my administration delivers the much needed services to the people. I do not want to be distracted by the moves orchestrated by my opponents, “said Mr Mbugua.

Mr Mbugua whose administration has been dogged with a raft of corruption allegations, in an interview with the Nation, said that most of the issues raised were unsubstantiated and there was no need for him to engage his detractors.

“As the governor I am not supposed to comment on non-factual matters. The citizens and political leaders have the right to raise concerns on issues but most of the matters are procedurally handled at my office,” he said.

He noted that an independent committee had since been constituted to handle the various claims.

He called on the county Assembly to speed up the process of budget approval so as to help hasten completion of pending development projects.

Governor Mbugua’s administration has been dented with claims of corruption scandals in the past few months.

However, Mr Mbugua, who has faced turbulent times in his first stint in an elective position, has developed a thick skin against the accusations.

The most recent accusations were that the County government had constructed a Sh8.9 million public toilet in Molo sub-County, claims which the County secretary Joseph Motari has since dismissed.
