Two people have died after a bus heading to western Kenya rammed into a car in Migaa at the notorious Salgaa black spot along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

Eyewitnesses told the Nation that two occupants of the car who suffered injuries were rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital, where they were recuperating.

According to police boss Joseph Mwamburi, the driver of the car was trying to overtake a truck when it collided head-on with the bus during the early Wednesday morning accident.

“The personal vehicle was trying to overtake the truck when it was hit by the oncoming bus ferrying passengers to western Kenya from Nairobi.

“However, nobody among those in the bus was injured,” said Mr Mwamburi.

The crash caused a huge snarl-up on the busy highway.

The incident comes a year after the National Transport and Safety Authority agreed with the Kenya National Highways Authority that funds should be sought to build an alternative route for trucks to reduce the high number of road crashes along the 11-kilometre Salgaa stretch.
