Two suspected robbers shot dead in Nakuru

Two suspected robbers were on Wednesday night shot dead by police on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

Police found two firearms, a toy pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition in the midnight incident.

A police radio was also found in a car the gangsters had used to commit a robbery in Njoro town.

Nakuru County Police Commander Rashid Hassan Barua confirmed to the Nation that the two were trailed from Njoro, where they had committed a robbery on Tuesday night.

“The vehicle was spotted in Nakuru town. They defied a police order to stop and engaged police in a shootout," he said.

He said the two got out of the car in an attempt to escape on foot during the shootout but were shot dead.

The two bodies were taken to the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital mortuary.
