Kimemia says lazy and corrupt Nyandarua staff to be sacked

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has warned lazy and corrupt civil servants in his government to either change or quit.

Mr Kimemia warned that he will not spare anyone regardless of the position they hold in his administration.

Speaking at Ol Kalou Catholic Church Hall during the county devolution dialogue forum on Thursday, Mr Kimemia said it will be no longer business as usual as he starts using his first budget to implement development projects.

“I am aware of sub-county administrators who are never in office or they report on duty any time wish. The assembly has approved my first budget marking the start of the implementation of my development plan,” said Mr Kimemia.

WARD COMMITTEES

The governor directed the department of administration to activate ward committees and village elder committees who will assist to monitor the progress of development projects in their areas.

“The era of corruption has come to an end from today. The culture that one must bribe to get a government services must come to an end. I have devised my own ways to arrest corrupt and lazy officers,” said the governor.

He said the sub-county and ward administrators must work and support executives, adding that he has noticed some incidents where the executive members visit regions but the administrators are nowhere to be found.

SUGGESTION BOXES

He also directed the installation of suggestion and corruption report boxes in all sub-county offices.

“Don’t think you will fool me by sorting and destroying reports dropped in those boxes. I know all the tricks, it was used on me in the national government but I eventually got to know the truth,” said Mr Kimemia.

The governor said he is aware of corrupt senior staff using his name to solicit for bribes, claiming they were collecting it on his behalf.

With the approval of the budget by the assembly, Mr Kimemia has assured Nyandarua residents of quality and timely service delivery.

“Wait and judge me at the end of this year. Time for tales has come to an end. I now have the money and I trust disbursement from Treasury will be done in good time. Contractors must also be paid in good time. I don’t want to hear of any pending bills but they must also do a clean job,” said the governor.
