Murang’a county criminal investigating officer Julius Rutere has been admitted to hospital after being found drugged in a hotel room in Karatina, Nyeri County.

Central Region Police Boss Gideon Amala said the officer was treated at Karatina Sub-County Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi Hospital.

“The officer was drugged at an entertainment joint in Karatina. But he is now in stable condition and recovering,” he said.

Police documents indicated that the officer was found lying naked and unconscious on the bed.

Mr Amala said the officer was robbed of his money and mobile phone, which was later tracked two women in Karatina town.

He was not carrying his gun, the police said.

He said three people, including the two women have been arrested in connection to the incident and are being questioned at Karatina Police Station.

“The police tracked the mobile phone to the two women, who upon questioning led the police to the man,” he said.

The police also impounded a vehicle belonging to the suspects and towed it to Karatina Police Station.
