Drama unfolded outside Nyeri Law courts on Tuesday when a woman climbed a tree and refused to descend demanding for justice.

Ms Kamene Munywoki arrived at the law courts in the morning carrying a huge blue paper bag full of clothes and files and requested to be allowed to see one of the magistrates or judges claiming that she had passed through serious challenges that could only be addressed by the court.

Security guards manning the entrance of the court however, noticing that her demands were not as genuine as she purported, ordered her to sit under a tree opposite the main gate to the law courts.

She then opened her huge paper bag and removed the files which she started showing some of the boda boda operators near the law courts.

“I want justice, the police have tormented me and I want my case to be heard,” she shouted.

As the public watched in amazement, she became violent demanding that everybody leaves her alone because she had a reason as to why she had gone to the courts.

“I have tried to get assistance from the police but everywhere I go they have been chasing me away. Only the judges and this court can help me,” she said.

When she realised that she was attracting more attention from the public, she decided to climb a nearby tree leaving her luggage on the ground.

Efforts by police officers who came at the scene to force her to descend from the tree fell on deaf ears as she vowed not to.

“I will not come down from this tree until I see the judge who will help me solve my issues,” she said.

People who witnessed the incident said the woman had been forced to alight a vehicle which was headed for Eldoret after the matatu operators allegedly noticed that she could be having some mental problems.

Ms Munywoki claimed that she had been locked at Kamukunji Police station in Nairobi where she had gone to seek help but she managed to escape and boarded a Matatu to Nyeri.

She claimed to be a resident of Kitui.

She later descended after residents pleaded with her and offered to assist her get justice she was seeking.
