Residents of Bulla Pesa in Isiolo County have appealed to the county government to intervene and help revive a dispensary that ceased operations seven years ago.

Speaking during a visit by Governor Godana Doyo Thursday, the residents said the dispensary which was jointly built through funding from the Constituency Development Fund and the British army was now collapsing after it was neglected.

One of the representatives, Mr Galgalo Guyo, said they expected that there would be a boost in the provision of health services once the facility was completed.

Mr Guyo said politicians had always promised to renovate the dispensary but nothing was done.

ROADS IMPASSABLE

The problem is complicated by the bad state of the roads in the area which are impassable and pose a big challenge especially during emergencies.

“Bulla residents have not benefited from any services that were supposed to be offered by the dispensary, since it was built seven years ago,” Mr Guyo said.

He accused the county government of neglecting the area in development while other areas are being prioritised in the provision of health care services.

Governor Doyo promised to open the dispensary in a months’ time adding that the county government has already set aside drugs for use at the facility.

Mr Doyo said the county government in conjunction with the British army will also construct roads in Bulla Ward.

“The road network in Bulla is terrifying,” the governor said.

Mr Doyo said the British army will provide machinery and labour while the county government will provide materials for the work.

The governor said problems in Bulla are mainly due to the fact that the area has so far not been surveyed.

He said his government had set aside Sh37 million for survey work in the county.
