MCAs reject county executive nominees

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga.

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has suffered a major setback after the Assembly rejected his list of nominees for County Executive Committee positions.

The county's appointment and vetting committee rejected the list that was presented to the Assembly for approval.

The report presented in the floor for debate by Mr Sylvester Madialo asked Governor Rasanga to appoint a new set of nominees, who will take up the cabinet slots or place them in dockets that suit them.

The motion moved by Mr Madialo said the governor did not adhere to Sec 35(1) of County Government Act, which called for affirmative action and regional balance.

Mr Madialo stated that the committee also found that the list did not cater for the youth and interest groups.

He termed the nominations null and void.

"We have resorted to nullify the names after strictly adhering to Chapter Six, knowledge and experience which the nominees do not comply with, they should qualify in the respective fields," said Mr Madialo.
