VOI

In Voi, vote tallying was still underway at the Voi CDF Hall Wednesday morning with Governor John Mruttu leading with 1,942 votes against Mr Mwadeghu’s 1,816 votes from 14 polling centres.

However, heavy rains that hit some of the areas delayed the delivery of some of the results time.

“Up to now we are still waiting for results from Wongonyi. The clerks could not reach here on time because the road leading to Wongonyi has been washed away by floods” said Voi ODM chairperson John Maghanga.

By Wednesday morning, results from all the 30 polling centres in Voi were yet to be submitted by the clerks.

However, some of the clerks complained that they were yet to receive their pay as they had been promised by the party.

“We have been working for the last two days but we have not received a coin from the party. We have not eaten and some of us do not have bus fare to go back home,” said one clerk, Marium Musa.

However, Ms Musa said they had been promised that they will be paid before the end of the tallying exercise.

“I will not leave this hall unless I am paid my allowance,” she said.
