Residents of Tharaka have demanded they be issued with title deeds before the next elections.

Speaking at Kinyingiri village in Tharaka South on Saturday, they asked their MP Mburi Muiru who is also the Parliamentary Land Committee chairperson to ensure they get documents since it was one of his campaign pledges.

“We elected Mr Muiru hoping that he would offer solution to our land issues because he worked with Ministry of Land but we are still begging for title deeds less than one year to the next election,” said Mr Gitonga Murugara.

Mr John Muriungi, another resident, asked Lands Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi to intervene.

“Prof Kaimenyi comes from Meru County and understands very well the border issues and with MP Muiru as the Parliamentary Land Committee Chairperson, it would be easier to end the dispute,” said Mr Muriungi.
