Turkana Senator John Munyes has intensified his political campaigns to unseat Governor Josphat Nanok with consistent tour of the six constituencies to woo voters.

Mr Munyes who is also seeking to ensure that the county is a Jubilee zone has support of Deputy Governor Peter Lokoel who comes from vote rich Turkana Central and MPs James Lomenen (Turkana South), Protus Akuja (Loima), Nicholas Ngikor (Turkana East), Christopher Nakuleu (Turkana North) and Daniel Epuyo (Turkana West).

Mr Munyes bid for the top seat was boosted by the defection of Lokichar Ward Representative Raphael Loperito from Governor Nanok's ODM camp.

INCLUSIVE GOVERNMENT

Accompanied by the MPs, Senator Munyes on Thursday received the MCA at Lokapel village after meeting over 2, 000 Jubilee Party campaigners for Turkana South Constituency.

"Despite billions of funds already devolved to the county, we are still experiencing same challenges of lack of water and food. My government will be inclusive that primarily focusses on priorities of all residents," said Mr. Munyes.

During the event, Turkana Woman Representative Joyce Emanikor said they have been crisscrossing all constituencies and meeting grassroots campaigners to discuss a winning strategy.

"Our commitment is to ensure Jubilee Party scoops all seats in the county from Governorship to MCA seats and my general comment is that Turkana people are madly in love with Jubilee" she said.

She lauded the national government's commitment to ensure hundreds of hunger stricken victims in the county have access to food and rolled out water tanks to water scarce villages.

RELIEF INTERVENTIONS

She said the relief emergency interventions which came through the Ministries of Devolution and Planning, Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the Ministry of Agriculture were timely despite the overwhelming needs.

"Programs by the Jubilee administration include relief food distribution, livestock off take, livestock feeds and water supply that aims at cushioning locals." Ms. Emanikor said.

However she said the long term solution to food and water scarcity are necessary to ensure that incidents where villagers die after deep water wells cave in are incidents of the past.

Mr Lomenen accused Governor Nanok's administration of consistently being biased in awarding tenders and jobs as anyone affiliated to the MPs or senator was automatically disqualified despite having necessary application documents.
