Police have arrested one more suspect in connection to the shocking killing of an MCA aspirant’s three children in Kapsoya, Uasin Gishu County.

On Wednesday, police officers said they had arrested a middle-aged-man following undercover operation.

The identity of the man and where he was arrested, however, has not been revealed as police say it could jeopardise their investigations into the bizarre killings.

He is the second suspect to be arrested following the brutal killing of three sons of Kapsoya Ward aspirant James Ratemo two weeks ago.

Mr Ratemo’s brother, Enock Onsase is in police custody after a cousin of the murdered children said he had seen him with them before they went missing only for their bodies to be found in River Nzoia days later.

Seven people have also been questioned so far.

ARREST CONFIRMED

Investigations into the brutal murders are being led by detectives from Nairobi.

Uasin Gishu County Criminal Investigation Officer (CCIO) Peter Kiswii confirmed the arrest.

Mr Kisiwii also revealed that the detectives were tracking another suspect and could be arrested soon.

He said they had pieced together adequate evidence that would sustain murder trial against the suspects.

“We are making good progress in our investigations into the brutal killing of the kids and you are likely to see more suspects arraigned in court over the incident,” said Mr Kiswii in his Eldoret office.

According to police, Mr Onsase is the prime suspect and is expected back in court on June 6 after the prosecution asked for more time for investigations and to amend charges.

BURIAL PERMIT

He had been initially charged with abducting the children but after they were found dead, the prosecution said charges would be amended to murder.

The three children will be buried in Kisii next week on Friday following a disagreement between the county and the family on where to bury them.

The family spokesperson Charles Nyamweya on Tuesday said they had decided to take them back to their ancestral home in Kisii.

“We have been forced to change the burial plans which we had earlier on scheduled for Monday or Tuesday this week after the county government of Uasin Gishu declined to allow us to bury the bodies in Kapsoya estate,” said Mr Nyamweya.

He said that the county government denied them a permit to inter them in the estate saying it was against its regulations.
