LPK to name presidential choice

Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) says it will announce on Saturday which presidential candidate it will back in the August 8 elections.

Party leader Ababu Namwamba has said they have already deliberated on elections and who they will support following a two-day retreat at Sentrim Lake Elementaita Lodge early this month.

“We have now chartered our way forward. We can sit down and have a discussion with anybody without sanctions. This Saturday we will announce the presidential candidate Labour Party will support in [the] August polls.” – Ababu Namwamba

Kennedy Mong'are launches party

Mudavadi speaks on joint primaries

Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi says Joint Nasa nominations will be the exception rather than the rule, insists there is no disagreement.

“We have a wide range of places where parties will be free to do [their] own nomination." - Mudavadi

ANC also unveils 12-man elections board, chaired by Prof Martin Etyang', and a five-member dispute resolution team.

"We have met all the IEBC deadlines. We are on course to choosing a flag bearer who will be unveiled in due time.” - Musalia Mudavadi

Nasa joint nominations

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) affiliate parties will today be broaching the emotive subject threatening to tear it apart - party nominations.

Mr Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) will today at 10.30am unveil its national elections board.

The event will be held at its party headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi.

Just next door, their brothers in the Nasa fold, Ford Kenya, will also be addressing the same subject.

Bungoma Senator and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula will today receive a report from the party’s elections board on whether or not to adopt the joint nominations proposed by Nasa in selected areas in the country.

Already, Wiper party has said it will field its own candidates for various elective positions and will not participate in joint Nasa nominations.

PHILIP MURGOR TALK

Meanwhile, the United Democratic Movement (UDM) presidential candidate Philip Murgor will today host a lunch talk with his fellow alumni of the Lenana School, where he attended between 1975 and 1980.

“Philip Murgor (1975/80), has kindly agreed to share with us his insights into the forthcoming national and county elections and the factors that are likely to influence the conduct and choices of the voters. Philip will be the first Laibon ever to go for the highest office in Kenya,” said an email invite to the alumni.

The lunch will be held at the Nairobi Club.
