Ojaamong declared ODM winner in Busia

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has won the Busia ODM gubernatorial primaries in results announced this morning.

Mr Ojaamong garnered 92,358 votes against Funyula MP Paul Otuoma’s 63,752 votes.

Immediately after the announcement, Mr Otuoma rejected the results.

His supporters took to the streets denouncing the results with Mr Otuoma saying he would talk to party leader Raila Odinga and party headquarters before announcing his next move.

Earlier, there was tension in and outside the Busia Agricultural Training Centre tallying centre over delays in releasing the results of Thursday nominations.

Governor Ojaamong’ was in a do-or-die duel with Mr Otuoma for the seat.

Ongoro headed to Mudavadi party

Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro is headed to Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party after being barred by Raila Odinga’s ODM from vying in Ruaraka.

Ms Ongoro was on Thursday fined Sh1 million and barred from vying in Ruaraka Constituency against TJ Kajwang’.

ANC Secretary-General Godfrey Osotsi said Ms Ongoro will be received by Mr Mudavadi.

“She is our member and will vie in Ruaraka,” said Mr Osotsi.

Makali wins in Kanduyi ODM primaries

Bungoma County Speaker John Makali has won the ODM ticket for the Kanduyi Constituency seat.

Mr Makali garnered 6,473 votes and his closest rival, lawyer Edwin Sifuna got 3,111 votes while Mr Gilbert Wangila got a paltry 234 votes.

It took up to around 12.10am for the results to be announced by the Kanduyi ODM returning officer Mr James Okoth.
