Dr Joyce Laboso wins in Bomet

Dr Joyce Laboso has been declared the winner of the Bomet governorship ticket in the Jubilee Party nominations.

After a final tally, Dr Laboso garnered 115,289 votes to beat her closet rival, Dr Julius Kones who got 72,546 votes.

In the third place is Stephen Mutai who got 8,895 votes.

Ndathi concedes defeat in Kirinyaga

Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi has conceded defeat in the Jubilee primaries even before the final results are announced.

Mr Ndathi made the announcement after results in three constituencies showed he was tailing Kirinyaga Central MP Joseph Gitari and former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

The results from Ndia, Gichugu and Kirinyaga Central constituencies showed Mr Gitari was leading with 37,632 votes followed by Ms Waiguru who got 33,233 votes while Mr Ndathi was third with 6,217 votes.

Counting of votes for Mwea, which is the biggest and most populous constituency is ongoing.

Jubilee defends use of IDs in poll

Jubilee Party has defended its decision to allow every voter with an ID to take part in its nominations.

"As long as you are a Kenyan with a valid ID, you should be able to vote." Andrew Musangi, Jubilee National Elections Board chairman.

Mr Musangi sought to allay fears that using national IDs could invalidate the nominations.

Jubilee Party officials in the area are currently dispatching voting materials.

Officials say there was a shortage hence the delay.

Police in Gatundu South shoot in the air to disburse an angry mob trying to destroy car suspected to be carrying stolen poll materials.

However, reports indicated that the vehicle was bringing materials from Jubilee Party headquarters intended to address shortages in the ongoing primaries in Gatundu township.

Jubilee primaries in Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, West Pokot

Jubilee nominations begin slowly in Uasin Gishu, Bungoma and West Pokot counties following a delay in distribution of ballot boxes and polling materials.

Hundreds of voters began queuing as early as 5am in Eldoret Town but voting was yet to begin at 7am.

Those who lined up at MV Patel Memorial polling station in the town expressed disappointment with the delay but were hopeful that they would cast their ballots later in the day.

In Ainabkoi, there was a standoff early in the morning after polling clerks and owners of cars hired to ferry voting materials refused to leave the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute.

The issue was sorted and they left with the materials to the constituency.

In Turbo, police impounded a car that suspected to be carrying ballot papers.

In Kapseret, voting was temporarily stopped after agents differed over which register to use at Wareng High School polling station.

In West Pokot, voting was yet to begin at 9am.

In Bungoma, distribution of voting materials to various polling stations began at 7am.

Jubilee primaries start in Kiambu

Voting in most polling centres across Kiambu County kicked off at around 7.30am with long queues building up every minutes.

Nairobi ODM nominations postponed

The ODM party National Elections Board has called off party primaries scheduled for Nairobi County today due to what it termed as unavoidable circumstances.

The board said a new date will be announced later in the day.

Jubilee primaries in Trans Mara have kicked off without any hitches.

Voters and aspirants have expressed satisfaction with the preparations put in place including the timely delivery of voting materials.

In Emurua Dikirr Constituency no anomalies were reported by the time voting began at 7.30am.

In Ang'ata Ward in Kilgoris constituency, voters turned out early and in large numbers to vote.
