Jubilee denies Sonko papers claims

Jubilee Party has dismissed Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko's claims that he had been asked to present an original KCSE certificate.

The party has challenged him to show papers he claimed were not accepted as he took his nomination papers.

Party Secretariat Director of Communications Albert Memusi says Senator Sonko did not go to the party offices and was not been asked for any papers that he claims have been demanded of him.

“He still has until tomorrow to present his nomination papers." – Memusi

Ruto accuses opposition of tribal politics

Deputy President William Ruto says opposition leaders are promoting tribal politics.

He says that while Nasa is keen on dividing the country along tribal lines, Jubilee, led by President Kenyatta, has shown commitment to unite Kenyans.

“We brought together 12 parties but they are struggling to unite only four parties because they are hanging on to their tribes. They cannot even decide on their presidential flag bearer.” – DP William Ruto

The deputy president has also drummed up support for Jubilee and urged candidates eyeing elective posts to join Jubilee.

“All those seeking seats should join Jubilee. But we will not force leaders on you.” – DP William Ruto

Sakaja quits Nairobi governor's race

Nominated Jubilee MP Johnson Sakaja has quit the race for Nairobi governor's race.

Mr Sakaja has instead presented nomination papers for the Nairobi City County senate seat.

Kalonzo presents nomination papers

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is today presenting nomination papers for the presidential race to his party.

He is one of the four co-principles in the opposing alliance, Nasa.

Mr Musyoka has been insisting that he is the best suited candidate to fly the Nasa flag.

ODM leaders on Coast tour

ODM leaders today start a series of rallies in the six Coast counties to campaign for the party and the National Super Alliance (Nasa).

Deputy party leader and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho flew into Voi, Taita Taveta County on Wednesday evening in readiness for the rallies.

Mr Joho met aspirants on the ODM party at Voi Lodge.

The tour comes after another one by the Jubilee Party leaders, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

The tour of the Coast counties by the Jubilee leaders ended on Monday.

ODM hopes to turn back the tide of defections witnessed during the Jubilee tour.

The party is still reeling from the defection of Kwale, Governor Salim Mvurya and Woman Rep Zainab Kalekye Chidzuga to Jubilee.

In Kilifi, MPs Gideon Mung’aro and Mustafa Iddi have also defected to Jubilee while in Mombasa, Deputy Governor Hazel Katana also left ODM.
