Children have given governors up to the end of the month to end corruption as they urged them to be in the forefront in the fight against the vice.

In a strongly worded at the inaugural children’s devolution conference, one of the children’s representatives, Faith Adhiambo, said it was the prerogative of the county bosses to slay the corruption dragon.

Speaking at the three-day 4th Devolution Conference being held in Naivasha, Nakuru, the secondary school student outlined raft of measures children wanted taken by the county bosses.

“We are calling for the employment of more health professionals to alleviate the suffering of the Kenyan people,” Adhiambo said.

The child representative also called on the county government leaders to ensure that they provide ambulances to rural residents.

On the political front, the student called on the leaders to promote peace and harmony ahead of the coming general elections.

“This should involve enhancing dialogue and peace education in all the schools across the country,” she said.

The children’s resolutions also included the embracing of green energy and improvement of infrastructure.

“The county government should also recognise the rights of children and taking affirmative action,” Adhiambo said.

The children called for the fast-tracking of the resolutions, saying it should be done before the end of first quarter of this year, which is the end of this month.

Council of Governors chairman Peter Munya, the Meru governor, lauded the children’s input, terming it visionary and in line with the envisaged gains in the devolved system of governance.
