Kenya procures vital drug to save mothers from bleeding after childbirth

Maternal mortality rate in Kenya is still high. Oxytocin, the drug used to prevent bleeding following childbirth was costly and required cold storage. The introduction of heat stable carbetocin is a game changer as any facility, with or without refrigeration can store it. Dr Ruth Wamae speaks of being part of the team that pushed for this breakthrough and other reforms needed in maternal child health in Kenya.
