A cat held its owner hostage in her own home.

The feline, known as Cuppy, trapped the woman and her adult daughter in their home in San Diego, California, by attacking them whenever they attempted to leave, reports The Metro newspaper.

The pair were forced to call the police after the 14-year-old cat flew into a rage when one of the women went to the bathroom during the night.

The owner's neighbour, Karen Yarger told KGTV: "He's just a ball of fury."
