Are you chained to your own boundaries?

What you need to know:

  • We turn out so many graduates every year but my concern is that they are being released to join the already densely populated intelligent army confined in the boundaries set for them by society and previous generations.

Who is defining the boundaries of your imagination? A great Nation is the product of great thinkers. Great Empires of old were the citadels of intellectualism. They were not only centers of knowledge but the epic centers of new discoveries.

Taking ancient Egypt as an example, not only was it the intellectual capital of its time but also the technological and creative capital of the world. Great discoveries and inventions are the expressions of minds that refused to be contained. They are the manifestations of people who determined to live their life beyond imagination.

When a people are boxed into the confines of the known, the obvious and the comfortable it inadvertently confines their nation to the same. Great nations have never been birthed by cautious people. The cautious may not live forever but the timid will not have a life.

While I am a very great supporter of academic education I am also aware that the pioneers of the first university in the world were not graduates of any university themselves. Now this is for me an amazing revelation because that tells me that what changes the world is not degrees but people.

There is only one thing that has changed the world from the beginning of time and that will continue to change the world till the end of time. When people who are inspired act on the knowledge that they have or a dream that they have, something magical happens.

WHO ARE WORLD CHANGERS?

World changers are people who dream and dare to believe that their dream is valid and go further to do something to make their dream a tangible physical reality. They have the audacity to impose their dreams on the world.

There is a popular saying that ideas change the world but it is not a complete saying. Ideas don’t change the world as long as they remain ideas. Ideas that are executed — ideas that become actions change the world. All that is needed for you to change your world, to change your business, to change this nation is the boldness to say that ‘I have a right to dream. I have a right to execute my dream. My dream counts. I will build capacity for my dream. I refuse to be contained by history. My destiny is greater than my history!’

The house you live in, the car you drive, the bus you ride in, the clothes you wear and even the food you eat were all once ideas. Who is defining the boundaries of your imagination? You need to get to the point where you will desire for people to live in and enjoy the products of your imagination.

When Henry Wanyoike lost his sight at the age of 20 he thought his world had ended.  However like he said to me when I met him this week, that was when his life really started. In his own words ‘I lost my sight but I never lost my vision. He then went on to win gold medals and break world records.

Every Kenyan deserves one night every month where they will be spared from politics, divisions and rivalries and where they can sit under the same roof as one people under God and be inspired to release the greatness that lies within them and in so doing release the greatness of the Nation of Kenya.

I promised you my readers that I will make that happen and so on the September 4 at the Tsavo Ballroom, KICC, come and listen to Henry Wanyoike and other visionaries like him and be inspired.

Admission is FREE so you have no excuse for not being there. Think of this; how does a visually impaired man get the guts to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to the top? What was he thinking? What was driving him? Come and hear for yourself.

Remember that the difference between the knowledge you have and the results you experience lies in how inspired you were to act on what you know.
