Multichoice drops Kardashian dad TV show, 'I am Cait'

Nigerian media reports say that some parents did not want their children to watch the show that is beamed across Africa on both DSTv and GoTV.

Mr Philip Wahome, Corporate Communications Manager at MultiChoice Kenya confirmed the changes in programming saying ‘I am Cait’ was dropped out of respect for its viewers across the continent.

“MultiChoice recognises the importance of respecting the views of its customers and all regulatory environments within which its service operates. After careful consideration, MultiChoice would like to inform its valued subscribers that the show will no longer air on the channel across our platforms.” 

The reality show that appeared on E! Entertainment Television documented the journey of Caitlyn Jenner, the transgender Olympic champion formerly known as Bruce who came out as a woman in 2014. After his athletic exploits, Bruce became a household name in "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" in which he appeared as the sometimes bemused stepfather of her flamboyant daughters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian. He was widely praised for revealing in a television interview broadcast in April that she was transitioning to life as a woman, earning praise for coming out as transgender.

Bruce, unveiled her new name and sexy look in a Vanity Fair covershoot drawing widespread praise and smashing a Twitter record.

Jenner broke Obama's Twitter record for the shortest time to reach one million followers, achieving the mark with her @Caitlyn_Jenner account in four hours and three minutes.

Nigeria media reports that this is the second time the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has asked pan-African broadcasters to stop showing transgender-related material, following the cancellation of ‘I am Jazz’, the story of a transgender teen.
