What you need to know:

  • The display which opened its doors to the public on Wednesday July 15, will be running until Wednesday July 22.

Artists Wambui Kamiru, Jackie Karitu and Gor Soudan have teamed up for a joint exhibition at the Goethe Institute in an effort to bring to attention matters of conservation.

This display is uniquely made by recycling items such as jikos (charcoal stoves), newspapers, a refrigerator and other materials, to portray the artists’ expressions. It explores how past present, and future actions are linked in creating a human experience.

Jackie Karuti’s Time Capsule was particularly interesting. It incorporates video and found objects to recreate the idea of preservation and memory.

Tree by Wambui Kamiru meant to project a future in which man can only remember something that used to be called “Tree” while More Deader and Outer Things by Gor Soudan created a satellite and a space vehicle.
