What you need to know:

  • I am very, very happy right now, building something very beautiful with someone I have known for a while and care about deeply. I am however, not married yet, so officially, according to the government, I’m still single.
  • I really don’t know. I really am just happy to have been nominated. This is the second time to be nominated for a “Best Actress” award, and that in itself is great.
  • I absolutely adore Mkamzee Mwatela. I think she is such a talented person. We went to high school together, and she was a prefect, two years ahead of me, and was absolutely terrifying. Getting to know her after school and finding out that she is really such a sweet and wonderful human being just goes to show how effortlessly she can take on a role and embody it.

You have been nominated for Best Lead Actress in a TV Drama. Excited? Expecting it? Nervous?

I wasn’t expecting it but I am pretty excited and grateful. It feels good to be recognized for ones craft.

What has your experience been with Groove Theory?

It’s been great, loads of fun with a bunch of really wonderful people. Shooting season was pretty intense but fun nonetheless.

More time on the studio and less on set or vice versa?

When it’s time to shoot, it means all of my time on set, but then it’s usually pretty intense for a couple of weeks and then back to normal programming.

You seem to be a woman of many talents: acting, singing, writing fantastically funny musical narratives, photography and ever decorating.

Thank you.

Is there anything you can't do?

No.

I’m kidding. Yes, of course there’s stuff I can’t do. I can’t make my own clothes. But I can knit. I also don’t know how to make tiramisu. Lucky for me I know someone who makes the best tiramisu ever. I also don’t know how to fly a spaceship. Or a plane. Or a microlight.

Are you a superpower all by yourself?

Yes.

I am PowerPat.

And what skill/frontier do you want to conquer next?

Mind reading.

And making shoes.

And hacking into wi-fi networks.

Speaking of all your talents...are you still living life in the single lane or are you going to be putting that show on from vague memories?

Haha. I am very, very happy right now, building something very beautiful with someone I have known for a while and care about deeply. I am however, not married yet, so officially, according to the government, I’m still single.

Do you think you are going to win the award?

I really don’t know. I really am just happy to have been nominated. This is the second time to be nominated for a “Best Actress” award, and that in itself is great.

What do you think of the other actresses in your genre?

I absolutely adore Mkamzee. I think she is such a talented person. We went to high school together, and she was a prefect, two years ahead of me, and was absolutely terrifying. Getting to know her after school and finding out that she is really such a sweet and wonderful human being just goes to show how effortlessly she can take on a role and embody it.

And...no, seriously...who do you think is going to win? No diplomatic answers please.

Mkamzee.

What was your favourite drama this year - Kenyan of course?

I really enjoyed Statehouse this year. Every Monday, 8:30pm, I was on the couch with a bunch of friends watching it.

And what show would you love to do a cameo in?

Statehouse.
