Successful silent Kenyan art auction earns over Sh4 million: PHOTOS

One Sunday in early April, One Off Gallery held the closing day of a three--week Silent Art Auction that the Gallery's owner-curator Carol Lees had organised for Anja Lohmueller, a German woman who has lived in Kenya off and on for the past eight years but who needs now to return to return full time to her home in Germany.

Her advertising agency is booming so she needs to be there but her house in Berlin is full to overflowing with fine art from mainly Europe so she has no space for her lovely Kenyan art collection.

The final day at One Off saw sales totally KSH4 million. The works that were sold were by Michael Soi, Anthony Wanjau, Beatrice Wanjiku, John Kamicha, Peter Ngugi, Richard Kimathi, Peter Brooke and John Silver among many other of the country's best find artists.

Final bids that day came through the What's App page that One Off set up as well from patrons of the arts scene who came that day to seriously buy the work.
