Ladies, want to know your body size to get a perfect fit for the outfits you buy online?

Simple. Measure your chest, waist and hips then refer to the international measurement chart to see where you fall.

If you have ever shopped online for clothes, then you understand the hassle of trying to find apparel that fits well.

Some women have experienced the inconvenience and expense of adjusting their newly acquired clothes in order to achieve the fit they want while others just had to sell them.

According to Maureen Bandari, a fashion blogger, the most important thing is to first establish the country of origin of the outfit you want before even checking the sizes.

“This helps you to adjust your own measurements to the international measurements chart that gives what inches are equivalent to what body size,” she added.

The international chart, which is available online, gives a range of bust, waist and hip measurements that are equivalent to the different sizes in certain countries.

The common US/Canada size 8, for instance, is for a woman with a bust size of 35-36 inches, a waist of 27-28 inches and hips of 37-38 inches.

WHICH SIZE FITS?

The US/Canada size 8 is equivalent to a size 12 in the UK, size 11 in Japan, size 38 in Europe, size 44 in Italy and size 40 in France.

When measuring the bust, waist and hips women are advised to be keen on the measurements and consult a professional tailor if possible.

According to asos.com, a popular online shop, the bust should be measured around its fullest part, the waist around the natural waistline and the hips at 20 cm down from the natural waist.

Usually, an online shopper keeps track of her measurements to enable her to choose the clothes that fit her properly.

Ms Bandari, the fashion blogger, also recommends that for blouses and trousers/skirts, a woman with an uneven body size should go for different sizes.

“For instance, you find a woman is a size 10 on her upper body and a size 16 on her lower body. Such people should not try to pick items of one size for both body parts, it’s allowed to mix sizes,” she said.

There is no need to shy away from shopping online because you fear settling for an ill-fitting outfit or one that completely does not fit.

With the measurement guide women can shop for the correct sizes online. Happy shopping, ladies.
