What you need to know:

  • Although the show was a success, the fans arrived late and this was a bit worrying and it looked like the show would be a big flop. By 9 p.m., the venue was nowhere near half-full but to the relief of the organisers, fans started streaming in at midnight.
  • Things started looking up when DJ Stylez got on stage and gave fans a little doze of new school hip hop and DJ Bash closed off the curtain raising session.
  • In the middle of the show he made it clear that at no point did he not want to come to Kenya; “…2 Chainz ain’t never missed a show. F*** everybody who didn’t believe I was coming.”

Rapper 2 Chainz finally settled his debt with his Kenyan fans and as many who showed up will attest, it was worth the wait.

Originally scheduled to perform on November 1, 2 Chainz failed to show up and disappointed his fans after Jameson failed to secure the rapper.

But the 'Feds Watching' hitmaker more than compensated by giving an exciting and outstanding one-hour show that had them screaming and cheering throughout.

The show, however, did not have any Kenyan hip hop curtain raisers. It got off to a boring start with DJ G Money trying to pump up the few fans on the ground.

2 Chainz finally made his way to the stage to deafening screams, heavily guarded by five bodyguards.

REAL GOOD QUESTIONS, ANYONE?

He started the show with his 2007 hit, 'Duffle Bag Boyz', in which he collaborated with Lil Wayne.

Among other songs he also performed 'Mercy', 'Spend It', 'Where U Been', 'Feds Watching', 'I’m Different' and 'F*****g Problem'.

In the middle of the show he made it clear that at no point did he not want to come to Kenya; “…2 Chainz ain’t never missed a show. F*** everybody who didn’t believe I was coming.”

Fans almost got a double treat when R-n-B superstar, Akon, who was in the country, joined 2 Chainz on stage. But he did not perform.

Earlier on in the day, 2 Chainz missed a press conference scheduled at noon. He and his crew had partied at Ebony Lounge until the wee hours of the morning.

His manager David Leekes showed up an hour later and asked journalists to be patient while he tried to wake him up.

The rapper showed up at around 3 p.m. and engaged the remaining journalists for ten minutes.

During this time he seemed agitated, covered his eyes with sunglasses and a cap and eventually asked the photographers to stop taking pictures because of the blinding camera flashes.

He also refused to answer questions especially regarding his beef with Funk master Flex and asked for “any real good questions.” At the end of the briefing he banged the microphone on the table and left.
