What you need to know:

  • The app I used in this pic pays homage to the late David Bowie (RIP). Some people have decided that I have joined a cult because of this pic... And the blogs love it. But unfortunately, it’s not true. I’m in the lab recording my first album and I love Jesus.”

While paying tribute to the late David Bowie by imitating some of his facial art using a phone application, singer Victoria Kimani has drawn harsh criticism, with fans believing she has joined a cult.

The singer wrote on her Instagram timeline: “...The app I used in this pic pays homage to the late David Bowie (RIP). Some people have decided that I have joined a cult because of this pic... And the blogs love it. But unfortunately, it’s not true. I’m in the lab recording my first album and I love Jesus.”

However, some users wouldn’t hear any of it. daniella_chedvah wrote: “I told you, imitating can lead you to hell; it’s funny how you post those kinds of things; you were supposed to post things that can inspire your followers but all you do is post evil stuff. Judgement day is approaching.”
