Rapper Xtatic has lost almost all her belongings to an auction, following wrangles with her management team Sony Entertainment that left her music career at a standstill and reportedly made her life “a living hell”.

She was previously signed to Rockstar4000, which she parted ways with in 2014 because it did not meet its obligations in securing paying shows.

Her post caused a buzz all over the net as people wondered how a signed artiste with a boyfriend presumed to be well off could be in such a situation. She told Showbuzz: “I didn’t put up the post to get pity; I shared my struggles to encourage people who may be going through the same thing. Yes, auctioneers sold almost everything I have to recover my rent arrears and I had to send my sister to be with my aunt, but I have been through worse.

“I have been doing some online jobs since my music career hasn’t been working out. My boyfriend has been very supportive, but I believe in fighting my own battles. I don’t think it’s fair to burden your man with all your issues; he’s got struggles too. “

In response to the news, Music Publishers Association chairman and founder of Team Connect Bernard Kioko (BKay), and media personality Joe Muchiri, have rallied a response team. Through Kioko’s social media network, Team Connect, in conjunction with a section of Kenyan artistes headed by Avril, have already raised over Sh50,000 of the Sh150,000 target.

“We cannot let our artistes die because of challenges that we can collectively deal with,” Kioko explained. “We are working to find a short term, and thereafter long term, solution to help this great talent, Xtatic.”
