Nyashinski releases third 2017 song

Rapper and singer Nyashinksi has released his third solo song after doing a double release six months ago for the songs "Aminia" and "Malaika" which were well received.

Fans were anxiously awaiting Nyashinski’s new song titled "Hayawani", which he has been teasing in recent weeks on his social media pages.

The song, speaks to social issues like greed, poverty and other injustices. The song, which is produced by his music director and producer Cedrick Kadenyi popularly known as Cedo was released on Friday morning.

The comments section on YouTube was already lighting up with comments just minutes after it was uploaded.

Stewart Mweru wrote “Nyash God Bless. This is what Kenyans need to hear. Tuwache kubebwa ufala both by leaders and friends,” while Michael Njenga said “This guy only gets better. The video is on point,”

Mr Khadudu, only had one issue with the song.

“The only problem is that Cedo ameproduce song fupi sana this time,”

Josh Josh said “God can’t stop blessing Nyashinski because he makes him proud. I can see Nyashinski at the top of the African music industry,”

Norbert Isanya also had nothing but praise.

“Nyash is like fine wine, with time, he only gets better. He makes you think: what if Klepto was still in existence? His creativity combined with that of Collo and Roba would be chart topping. Big up to all the artistes still reppin Kiswahili

This is how former TMK member Chege feels about being a celebrity

Singer Chege from Tanzania has said that being a star is like being in prison. Chege who was a member of the famous Wanaume TMK was in a television interview when he equated stardom to being in prison. He was speaking to EATV’s 5 Selekt saying it is not until that you are in that space (of celebrity) that you actually realize it.

“Mtu unapokuwa unaangaika kutafuta ustaa lakini ustaa ni jela moja mbaya sana kwa mtu ambaye hajawahi kupitia hiyo kitu anaweza akaona huyu anaongea tu lakini ukishakua pale kwenye ustaa ndio unajua majukumu ya ustaa yakoje” he said.

Chege, full name Chege Chigunda, however said that embracing the celebrity status as a solo artiste was not a huge issue because he was part of a renowned group.

“Siyo kukaa nao tu na kukutana masikani, no! nilikua ndani ya kundi ambalo lina staa namba moja Tanzania nzima kwa hiyo hadi nakuja kuwa staa ule ushamba wa ustaa siwezi kuwa nao tena” Chege said.

Ciru Muriuki lands new television gig after leaving The Trend

Television and radio host Ciru Muiruki has landed herself a new job. Muriuki made the announcement on social media, on her Facebook page letting her fans know that she is now a host on the morning breakfast show Alfajiri on K24.

“The secret’s out. From Monday! I’m so excited,” read the message.

Muriuki was previously one of the panelists (a snarky and funny one at that) on the television show The Trend which used to be hosted by news anchor Larry Madowo. In a funny twist of musical chairs, Muriuki will be replacing Amina Abdi who used to be on the show. Abdi is now the host of the Friday evening show The Trend.

Muriuki had kept this recent career move under wraps when she left the Trend last month.

“I did my final show on The Trend. It has been three crazy years. When what later became the #TTTT segment started, it was literally 10 minutes of television with me and Anto Neosoul in the Nation FM studios. At the time, I had no way of knowing how big the show would get. This show has opened doors beyond my wildest dreams, and I’m walking through one of those doors now. I’m very excited about what the future holds and I will be sharing the next stage of my journey with you all as soon as I’m allowed to!” she wrote.
