South African comedian and host of the late night talk show The Daily Show with Trevor Noah has been confirmed as the host of the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards scheduled for October 22 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In a statement from Multichoice, Noah expressed his excitement at hosting the prestigious ceremony.
“I’m a huge fan of African music and achievement, and it’s going to be a massive pleasure celebrating them both at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2016 and in my own home town of Johannesburg,” he said.

Elba however tweeted: “@MTVbaseAfrica @JayMun I’d love to. But can’t this year. It’s still gonna be dope though.”
