Woman files for divorce over peas

A woman in Kuwait has filed for divorce after finding out her new husband prefers to eat peas using bread rather than a fork, and it is said she couldn't bear the "shocking sight".

The woman reportedly couldn't bear the "shocking sight" and asked for a separation just one week after tying the knot with the man.

This news emerges as figures obtained by lawyer Hawra al-Habib reveal there are on average 18 divorce cases a day in the country, the Kuwait Times newspaper reports.

However, in the majority of Muslim countries Islamic Law states a wife must go to court if she wants a divorce, while a husband can get a divorce without any reason by simply stating "I divorce you" three times.
