A new talk show, The Prime Time Show, has hit television screens. Radio funny man Munene Nyagah has switched from the Easy FM studio to the glare of television cameras as host of the show that aims to reveal the other side of Kenya’s stars.

The premier show on Sunday, December 7, featured the unlikeliest of couples – singer Mr Lenny and East African Magazines publisher and Sunday Nation columnist Carol Mandi. The show is aired on NTV at 7.30 pm on Sundays.

Future episodes will feature award-winning singer Wahu together with cartoonist Maddo who has interesting tales of the days when he used to be arrested for drawing cartoons considered inflammatory by the “Nyayo” government.

True Love editor Wayua Muli will share the couch with Juma Odemba, the Kayamba Africa band leader. Tattuu, the three girls who sang “Jua lanyesha” will come on the show alongside Adam magazine editor Oyunga Pala.

The Prime Time Show is produced by Golden Dreams Company. Dr Alfred Mutua of GDC, who is the producer and director, says it is a show fit for the whole family viewing. “This is a funny, humorous and fast-paced show like never seen on our screens before,” he says.

Juma and the Tutu Band will perform for the viewers and back up the artistes who perform.

The Prime Time Show is not all about the studio. There are hilarious outdoor scenes. In one of the episodes, viewers will see the reactions of Kenyans on the streets when four or five people “find” a bundle of Sh1,000 notes.

The talk show has replaced Cobra Squad, which is off season and will run for 13 to 20 weeks. It is sponsored by the latest entrant in mobile telephony -Yu.

Golden Dreams Production also produces Beba Beba, which also runs on NTV.
