What you need to know:

  • A night cleaning routine is even more essential than a morning one. This is because the skin repairs itself at night. The new formulas made of long lasting ingredients tend to bind to skin more than older formulas, making it crucial to clean it off properly.
  • Make sure that you remove all traces of colour using make up remover. This helps to get rid of the build up of grime, grease and dust. Removers are formulated to break down grease and long wearing ingredients such as mascara, eyeliner, foundation and lipstick.

Make up removal is essential to healthy skin.

If you do not remove your make up effectively everyday, your skin will  suffer. Pore blockage and unclear skin will  begin to show.

Make it a habit to free your skin of make up daily. A night cleaning routine is even more essential than a morning one. This is because the skin repairs itself at night. The new formulas made of long lasting ingredients tend to bind to skin more than older formulas, making it crucial to clean it off properly.

Make sure that you remove all traces of colour using make up remover. This helps to get rid of the build up of grime, grease and dust. Removers are formulated to break down grease and long wearing ingredients such as mascara, eyeliner, foundation and lipstick.

Start with your eye area, and lips. If you have used a long lasting matte type of lipstick, apply oil on your lips to break it down. After this, use a gentle soap or good quality cleanser with water.

Avoid using harsh soap/facial wash to prevent drying and stripping your skin of its natural oils. Be gentle around the eyes. Rinse it all off thoroughly by splashing your face with water until every trace comes off. Use your hands to do this.

After cleaning, pat your face dry gently with a clean soft cotton towel. Keep your face towel separate from other towels. If you have time, allow your skin to air dry. Follow with moisturiser. Use a product that acts as a skin repairer .

If you are too tired to complete the full process, use specially formulated wipes to remove your make up just before you sleep. Do not make this a habit though; it is much better to take your skin through the whole process daily. In the morning, all you need is a quick wash and moisturising before applying make up.

Allow your face to remain make up free at least once a week.
