The Timeless Journey of musical fulfilment presented by Kenya’s premier musical promoter Ranee Productions in celebrating two decades of its enviable service to our world of entertainment last Saturday evening, was more than just a Ghazal concert.

The event at Diamond Plaza 2 featuring India’s legendary Ghazal maestros and entertainers Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota and Talat Aziz, was nothing less than a festive musical banquet spiced with lyrical romance that illuminated our stage and left the audience mesmerised.

The romance and melody of ghazal has always fascinated music lovers and Timeless Journey’s enchanting moments brought home more than that.

A relishing array of a variety of Indian cuisine romanced the taste buds of enthusiastic audience as the maestros unleashed a highly intoxicating and passionate performance dishing out an aural feast of unforgettable ghazals and romantic songs.

Anup Jalota opened the proceedings with a couple of religious Bhajans. He invited the audience to join him in chorus singing couplets from his renderings. This initiative was welcome as the evening progressed and became more informal.

Talat Aziz followed with some of his unforgettable ghazals and songs paving the way for Pankaj and his repertoire of intoxicating and romantic blockbusters.

The trio also ventured into paying tribute to ghazal supremes Mehdi Hassan and Jagjit Singh by singing the numbers made immortal by them. The trio brought the house down coming on stage together for the Finale “Damadum Mast Qalandar”.

They also shared with the audience cherished nostalgia of their previous visits and how much they adore this country and have always looked forward to opportunities to come and perform for an audience that understands and appreciates music.

The master vocalists were supported by a group of celebrity musicians and authentic Eastern musical instruments that provided a passionate and unforgettable performance. Kenya’s own Naila Butt did us proud as the emcee.

Ranee Jamal of Ranee Productions and her team deserve congratulations for putting up this prestigious event.
