Your kitchen can double up as a beauty treasure trove. Several  items found there actually work to treat  skin matters, sometimes in an even better way than cosmetics. Here are some ways to convert your kitchen items into magical beauty  products.

Sugar, coffee and oil body scrub:

These can be combined to create a body scrub that leaves your skin smooth. Mix one tablespoon each of the ingredients and use as you shower. Slough away your dead skin with this mixture on areas such as elbows, legs and feet. Do not use it on your face as it is too abrasive.

Salt as dandruff remedy:

Kitchen salt is a highly effective anti-dandruff treatment. Flaky scalp skin is often difficult to control with ordinary shampooing. Adding a tablespoon of salt to the shampoo will give it abrasiveness. Wash your hair and  work it into your scalp, ensuring that you rinse it off properly. Ensure that you use kitchen salt and not table salt. Kitchen salt granules are the right size.

Bicarbonate of soda facial scrub:

Baking soda makes a gentle facial scrub suitable for weekly use. Mix a teaspoonful of powder with cold water to form a paste. After cleansing or washing your face, massagepaste gently into your skin in circular motions. Avoid the eye area and rinse it all off with warm water. Do not for more than two minutes. Use little pressure for best results.

Apple cider vinegar toning:

ACV is renowned not just for its amazing taste on salads; it also works as a toner for oily skin. Use a diluted amount on a wad of cotton wool to tone the skin after cleansing. Allow it to dry before applying moisturiser.
